On July 15, the Ministry of Commerce, together with the Ministry of Science and Technology, adjusted and released "Catalogue of Technologies Prohibited or Restricted from Export by China". After completing public solicitation of opinions at the beginning of 2025, domestically advanced technologies such as lithium battery cathode materials and lithium extraction technologies were officially included in the scope of restricted exports. The newly added restricted lithium extraction technologies in this adjustment cover the complete industrial chain from spodumene lithium extraction to lithium metal production. Specifically, they include 5 control points: technology for producing lithium carbonate through spodumene lithium extraction, technology for producing lithium hydroxide through spodumene lithium extraction, technology for producing lithium metal (alloys) and lithium materials, brine lithium extraction technology, and technology for preparing lithium-containing purified solution.
